Semi-Private Swim Lessons 2026Swim LessonsSemi-Private Lessons Minimum Age: 5 years old Designed for anyone who would benefit from one-on-one instruction and covers any of the Red Cross swim levels. Lessons are shared between two family members of the same level, or if both are under level 2. You will get 4, 1 hour sessions. Instructors are assigned upon registration. Private and Semi-Private swim lessons are scheduled based on instructor availability. Call the Community Education office at (320) 693-2354 to get on the waitlist. Once there is instructor availability, the swim instructor or Community Education staff will contact each family to schedule lessons. Softball T-ball League: Girls Ages 5-8SoftballThis league is for girls that are not yet participating in the traveling fastpitch program. This In-House Softball League is dedicated to offering children ages 5-8 an enjoyable and supportive environment where they can learn and prepare for fastpitch softball. Emphasis will be on creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere that helps young players develop their skills, forge new friendships, and experience the sheer joy of the game, all within a non-competitive setting. Players will be split into teams depending on registration numbers and the league will be a mix of coach-pitch and using a tee. Several volunteer coaches are required to run this activity. Contact the Community Education office if you are interested in volunteer coaching. All practices and games take place in Litchfield. Registration deadline: 5/10Summer 2026 -
Special OlympicsSpecial Olympics Unified Sports combine athletes with and without disabilities on the same team. By participating together, Special Olympics Athletes and Unified Partners improve their physical fitness, sharpen their skills, challenge the competition and encourage teamwork. Athletes will attend competitions when possible. These activities are FREE thanks to Unified Team and their Polar Plunge fundraising efforts, as well as our wonderful sponsors. Spring Flag Football - LHS Football Coaching Staff This program will provide athletes with a basic understanding of the game of football while playing flag football. Kids will work on team play and sportsmanship. They will develop the following fundamental skills: throwing, catching, running, along with learning the strategies of offense and defense. Swim Lessons*If any classes are full, please register for the waitlist as we may be able to add a 2nd instructor to allow for more registrations from the waitlist. American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Lesson Descriptions: This recognized program is instructed by certified staff. A skills test on the first day of lessons will determine if your child is in the appropriate level. Based on the test, instructors may ask to move your child to a different level offered at a similar time. It is not unusual to repeat levels before mastering all the skills. Below you will find the skills taught for each level of lessons. Feel free to call the Community Ed office to check which lessons your child took last year. Parent/Baby Swim Lessons Ages 6-23 months Enter & exit the water safely Feel comfortable in the water Experience wearing a life jacket Play safely in the water Submerge & explore breath control & floating on back/front Child must be accompanied by an adult in the water and a swim diaper must be worn. Parent/Tot Swim Lessons Ages 2-4 Enter & exit the water safely Submerge in rhythmic pattern Change body position Glide on front/back with aid Experience wearing a life jacket Child must be accompanied by an adult. A swim diaper must be worn if child is not potty-trained. Preschool Level A (Recommended for Ages 4-5) This will be your child’s first lesson without an adult. Introduction to basic skills that will lay the foundation for future skill development. Skills can be performed with instructor assistance. Enter/exit water safely Roll to back & float for 3 seconds Submerge mouth & blow bubbles for 3 seconds Glide on front for at least two body lengths Swim at least 5 yards Preschool Level B (Recommended for Ages 4-5) Build on skills taught in Preschool Level A. For students who are not afraid in the water & have had lessons on their own before. Instructors will provide less assistance to build child’s confidence in swimming alone. Step from side into chest-deep water Move into a front float for 5 seconds, rolling to back Push off & use combined arm/leg actions on front for 5 body lengths Roll to back, float for 15 seconds, roll to front & continue for 5 body lengths Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills (Recommended for Ages 6+) Minimal instructor assistance to build child’s confidence in swimming alone and prepare for level 2. Participants will also compete in at least two Track & Field meets with surrounding communities! Every athlete will get a Track & Field t-shirt for signing up. Virtual ACT Test Prep CourseYouth Enrichment Classes*For students enrolled in grades 10-12 ('25-'26 school year) Advantage Educational Programs To help students prepare for the ACT test, Advantage Educational Programs, in cooperation with Litchfield Community Education, will offer their ACT prep courses to students from Litchfield High School. Are you uneasy about your test-taking skills or unsatisfied with previous ACT results? This may be the course for you. Two different course formats allow students to choose the one that best suits their learning styles and personal circumstances. Students are also able to make up any classes they miss, and all courses may be repeated online at no additional charge. Once enrolled, students are sent an access code for their class via email.
