Summer FootballFootballSUMMER DRAGON FOOTBALL: LHS Football Coaching Staff Summer Dragon Skills & Special Teams Camp Grades 2-8 (‘25-’26 Grade): This camp is designed to provide athletes with small group instruction in the areas of throwing, catching, kickoffs, kicking extra points, punting, and long snapping. Athletes will participate in all areas. No equipment is needed. If kids have football spikes, please wear them. Summer Dragon Football Camp Grades 5 & 6 (‘25-’26 Grade): This camp is designed to provide athletes with a basic understanding of the game of football. Athletes will participate in a variety of fundamental skills, ball skills, tackling, blocking, etc. Anyone new to the padded football program will need to purchase football pants with pads (for pants). (The football program does have a supply of extras pants if needed, these are FREE to use!!). All other equipment (helmet, mouth guard, and shoulder pads) will be provided, except shoes. (The football program does have a supply of extras shoes if needed, these are FREE to use!!). Swim LessonsAmerican Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Lesson Descriptions: This recognized program is instructed by certified staff. A skills test on the first day of lessons will determine if your child is in the appropriate level. It is not unusual to repeat levels before mastering all the skills. Below you will find the skills taught for each level of lessons. Feel free to call the Community Ed office to check which lessons your child took last year. Baby Swim Lessons Ages 6-23 months Enter & exit the water safely Feel comfortable in the water Experience wearing a life jacket Play safely in the water Submerge & explore breath control & floating on back/front Child must be accompanied by an adult and a swim diaper must be worn. Tot Swim Lessons Ages 2-4 Enter & exit the water safely Submerge in rhythmic pattern Change body position Glide on front/back with aid Experience wearing a life jacket Child must be accompanied by an adult. A swim diaper must be worn if child is not potty-trained. Preschool Level A (Recommended for Ages 4-5) This will be your child’s first lesson without an adult. Introduction to basic skills that will lay the foundation for future skill development. Enter/exit water safely Roll to back & float for 3 seconds Submerge mouth & blow bubbles for 3 seconds Glide on front for at least two body lengths Swim at least 5 yards Preschool Level B (Recommended for Ages 4-5) Build on skills taught in Preschool Level A. For students who are not afraid in the water & have had lessons on their own before. Participants will also compete in at least two Track & Field meets with surrounding communities! Every athlete will get a Track & Field t-shirt for signing up. Practices will be held at the LHS Track. The practice and meet schedule will be sent out at a later date once coaches from surrounding communities are able to communicate and schedule meet dates. Virtual ACT Test Prep CourseYouth Enrichment Classes*For students currently enrolled in grades 10-12 Advantage Educational Programs To help students prepare for the ACT test, Advantage Educational Programs, in cooperation with Litchfield Community Education, will offer their ACT prep courses to students from Litchfield High School. Are you uneasy about your test-taking skills or unsatisfied with previous ACT results? This may be the course for you. Two different course formats allow students to choose the one that best suits their learning styles and personal circumstances. Students are also able to make up any classes they miss, and all courses may be repeated online at no additional charge. Once enrolled, students are sent an access code for their class via email. Registration deadlines are one week prior to class start date. Wagner Building - DKCDragon Kids Club2025 Dragon Kids Club Summer Care Information (Wagner Education Building): Dragon Kids Club is ISD #465 Community Education & Recreation’s school age childcare program for children entering grades K-5 for the 2025-26 school year. At DKC, we have professional and caring staff, a variety of enrichment programs, engaging recreational choices, outdoor play, and large/small group games. Weekly rates are listed below. You can choose from one of our 2 contract options (Consistent Schedule, Pick-Your-Days). All students must be enrolled in one of the contract options to attend DKC. Our staff will walk the DKC students to the Dragon Dining Program (previously located at the MS/HS) which is available throughout most of June and July.
