About Youth

Now more than ever we recognize the importance of supporting students’ social and emotional development. Community Education Youth Programs deliver a range of enrichment learning opportunities during out of school time (afterschool, non-school days, and summer) including recreation, enrichment opportunities & trips. Community Education offerings support youth to develop strong peer relationships and foster new skills. We do offer seasonal scholarships for families who qualify for Free & Reduced lunch. Call us to learn more about scholarships.

Track & Field Grades 4-6
Track & Field

Have fun while learning about the wide range of Track & Field events including hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put, relays and more! Participants will also compete in at least two Track & Field meets with surrounding communities! Every athlete will get a Track & Field t-shirt for signing up. Practices will be held at the LHS Track. The practice and meet schedule will be sent out at a later date once coaches from surrounding communities are able to communicate and schedule meet dates. Tentative Practice Schedule: April 14-May 16 (Mondays & Wednesdays) Meets: Friday, April 25th, 5pm (Litchfield) *Possibly more meet info to come.

Home Alone!
Youth Enrichment Classes

Ages 8+ Motivating and Inspiring Minds—Ariane Bromberg Is your child ready for the independence of being home alone? Parents need to be sure their children have the skills and maturity to handle the responsibility safely. Whether it is for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, being trusted to be home alone can be a positive experience for a mature and well-prepared child. This class for children will address several topics relating to being “Home Alone,” including age guidelines, safe habits, house rules, after school routines, phone calls and door knocks, dog emergencies, personal safety, handling the unexpected, gun safety, severe weather, fire safety, intruders and first aid tips. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. Parents are encouraged to review the take-home information and discuss it with their child. Registration deadline is one week prior to class date. No refunds after the registration deadline.

Youth Wrestling Program ('24-'25 Grade): DC/L Wrestling Staff FALL Session: The DC/L Charging Dragon Wrestling program is offering multiple training sessions this Fall with a goal of improving in all three wrestling positions (Feet, Top, Bottom) in technique, drilling, sparring, and live goes! Bring a friend and have fun with the wrestling team this fall. Off-season training will make in-season champions. Winter Session: Whether you’ve been in wrestling before or not, this is a great opportunity for boys and girls to learn! Charging Dragon wrestling techniques, skills, drills and games will be emphasized. Grades 3-6 will have two seasons with practices on Tuesdays & Thursdays starting on November 21 and ending on March 25. All practices will be combined with DC. The second season is for advanced wrestlers who wish to continue practicing and competing into February and March. NO REGISTRATION DEADLINE. Parent/Wrestler Informational Meeting: This meeting will cover the wrestling season components and schedule as well as competition information and distribution of youth wrestling t-shirts. Spring Flag Football Grades 2-6

Spring Flag Football - LHS Football Coaching Staff This program will provide athletes with a basic understanding of the game of football while playing flag football. Kids will work on team play and sportsmanship. They will develop the following fundamental skills: throwing, catching, running, along with learning the strategies of offense and defense. Flags will be provided. No other equipment is needed. Baseball/football shoes with rubber cleats may be worn, however, tennis shoes work as well.

6th graders - join us for a spring softball league! The season would go from March 31-May 19. Games will be played against surrounding communities. Parents/guardians are responsible for all transportation to games and practices. Season schedule coming soon!
