Softball Camp Grades K-5SoftballRegister by 2025-2026 school year grade for this activity (must have completed Kindergarten). Grades K-2: The focus is on basic rules, fundamentals of fielding, ground and fly balls, proper batting techniques and how to pitch underhand. Real softballs and protective equipment will be used. Players will learn from game situations. Grades 3-5: Learn all the rules and work on developing pitching and catching skills. Softball T-ball League: Girls Ages 5-8SoftballThis league is for girls that are not yet participating in the traveling fastpitch program. This In-House Softball League is dedicated to offering children ages 5-8 an enjoyable and supportive environment where they can learn and prepare for fastpitch softball. Emphasis will be on creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere that helps young players develop their skills, forge new friendships, and experience the sheer joy of the game, all within a non-competitive setting. Players will be split into teams depending on registration numbers and the league will be a mix of coach-pitch and using a tee. Several volunteer coaches are required to run this activity. Contact the Community Education office if you are interested in volunteer coaching. All practices and games take place in Litchfield. Registration deadline: 5/10Summer 2026 -
Special OlympicsSpecial Olympics Unified Sports combine athletes with and without disabilities on the same team. By participating together, Special Olympics Athletes and Unified Partners improve their physical fitness, sharpen their skills, challenge the competition and encourage teamwork. Athletes will attend competitions when possible. These activities are FREE thanks to Unified Team and their Polar Plunge fundraising efforts, as well as our wonderful sponsors. Summer Dryland - Bantam/15U High School Boys & GirlsHockeyThis dryland will consist of a mix of puck handling, shooting and speed training. We will do daily stickhandling drills and have multiple nets set up inside for shooting pucks. We will do hockey specific plyometrics and lifts. Summer FootballFootballSUMMER DRAGON FOOTBALL: LHS Football Coaching Staff Summer Dragon Skills & Special Teams Camp Grades 2-8 (‘26-’27 Grade): This camp is designed to provide athletes with small group instruction in the areas of throwing, catching, kickoffs, kicking extra points, punting, and long snapping. Athletes will participate in all areas. No equipment is needed. If kids have football spikes, please wear them. Summer Dragon Football Camp Grades 5 & 6 (‘26-’27 Grade): This camp is designed to provide athletes with a basic understanding of the game of football. Athletes will participate in a variety of fundamental skills, ball skills, tackling, blocking, etc. Anyone new to the padded football program will need to purchase football pants with pads (for pants). (The football program does have a supply of extras pants if needed, these are FREE to use!!). All other equipment (helmet, mouth guard, and shoulder pads) will be provided, except shoes. (The football program does have a supply of extras shoes if needed, these are FREE to use!!). Sara Holmgren & Litchfield High School Gymnastics Coaching Staff All participants should wear comfortable clothing and have their hair pulled back. Coaching staff reserves the right to recommend or require movement from/into leveled groups as they see appropriate for each gymnast's skill level. Preschool Gymnastics Ages 4-6: This is an introduction to gymnastics for boys and girls. This class will focus on introducing each of the four events to boys and girls between ages 4-6. Beginner Gymnastics Ages 5-10: We will work on beginning gymnastics skills on each of the four events. Boys and girls will have fun while learning new gymnastics skills. Intermediate Gymnastics Ages 6-11: This class is designed for girls and boys who have participated in gymnastics in the past. Participants should be able to do a backbend on their own in order to sign up for this class. Gymnasts will focus on learning and building skills on each of the four events. Advanced Gymnastics Ages 9-12: This class is designed for girls who are interested in participating in the middle or high school gymnastics team in the future. Girls should have previous gymnastics experience. We will work on skills needed for high school gymnastics. HS/MS Gymnastics Grades 7-12: This class is for all gymnasts in grades 7-12 during the 2026-2027 school year. Private Lessons Ages 6-14 (Instructor: Olivia Holmgren): These lessons will be set up individually with the coach. Must contact Community Education at 320-693-2354 to register for private lessons. Join us for three weeks of fun and active sport exploration! Each week, participants will learn the basic skills and rules of a different sport while building confidence and having fun with friends. Sports featured include soccer, flag football, and track. This is a great opportunity for kids to try new activities and discover what they enjoy most in a supportive and energetic environment. Swim Lessons*If any classes are full, please register for the waitlist as we may be able to add a 2nd instructor to allow for more registrations from the waitlist. American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Lesson Descriptions: This recognized program is instructed by certified staff. A skills test on the first day of lessons will determine if your child is in the appropriate level. Based on the test, instructors may ask to move your child to a different level offered at a similar time. It is not unusual to repeat levels before mastering all the skills. Below you will find the skills taught for each level of lessons. Feel free to call the Community Ed office to check which lessons your child took last year. Parent/Baby Swim Lessons Ages 6-23 months Enter & exit the water safely Feel comfortable in the water Experience wearing a life jacket Play safely in the water Submerge & explore breath control & floating on back/front Child must be accompanied by an adult in the water and a swim diaper must be worn. Parent/Tot Swim Lessons Ages 2-4 Enter & exit the water safely Submerge in rhythmic pattern Change body position Glide on front/back with aid Experience wearing a life jacket Child must be accompanied by an adult. A swim diaper must be worn if child is not potty-trained. Preschool Level A (Recommended for Ages 4-5) This will be your child’s first lesson without an adult. Introduction to basic skills that will lay the foundation for future skill development. Skills can be performed with instructor assistance. Enter/exit water safely Roll to back & float for 3 seconds Submerge mouth & blow bubbles for 3 seconds Glide on front for at least two body lengths Swim at least 5 yards Preschool Level B (Recommended for Ages 4-5) Build on skills taught in Preschool Level A. For students who are not afraid in the water & have had lessons on their own before. Instructors will provide less assistance to build child’s confidence in swimming alone. Step from side into chest-deep water Move into a front float for 5 seconds, rolling to back Push off & use combined arm/leg actions on front for 5 body lengths Roll to back, float for 15 seconds, roll to front & continue for 5 body lengths Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills (Recommended for Ages 6+) Minimal instructor assistance to build child’s confidence in swimming alone and prepare for level 2.
