Early Childhood Screening February 20, 2025ECFE Classes & ScreeningEarly Childhood Screening: Litchfield School District offers FREE screening to families of children 3-5 years old. Scoring is based on the child's age at the time of screening. If your child has not been screened and will be attending preschool, they need to be screened prior or shortly after starting, but will not be prohibited from registering. Screening includes vision, hearing, height, weight, speech, language, large and small motor skills, as well as social and emotional development. Immediately following your child's screening, there will be a discussion time where you review the results and can ask questions. Screening supports children's readiness for kindergarten and promotes health and development. Your child will have the chance to participate in activities that show how they are developing. The activities are designed to be fun and familiar. Activities will include things like building with blocks and drawing shapes. You will receive a postcard around the time your child is 3.5 years old. If you haven't received information on screening, are new to the district, or have moved, contact Community Education to update your information. We ask that only one adult comes with the child to the screening appointment. Appointments take approximately 60 minutes.
